Ponder this, fellow sci-fi fans!
If an alien planet inhabited by intelligent beings with a vegetable physiology discovered Earth and realized they could survive here — with its warm temperatures, abundant water, and fertile soil — they would consider our planet a paradise for their species!
So, let's assume for a moment that the small spacecraft in this movie which crash-landed on Earth was one of many such probes which where sent out to investigate and report back to the home world about conditions on the planets they investigated.
In other words, The Thing wasn't a lone invader (a totally ridiculous idea), it was just the pilot of a lone probe. It's mission was to test the environment and soil to determine if it's own species could colonize our planet.
They didn't care about the indigenous life forms, they just wanted to know if their own life forms could survive here!
What The Thing discovered was that Earth was the perfect place for their species' new home. But how was this alien being supposed to report this info back to its home world?
That's the question I hope we can explore on this thread. Scotty's final moment in this great movie warns mankind to "Keep watching skies!"

___________
With the ideas pf suggested above, please consider the idea that \mankind will have to do this for a very long time. . . . _________________ ____________
