In the middle 1980s, during a partial eclipse in Atlanta, my family and I were amazed by the strange look of the shadows on the ground which were made by the tree leaves!
It's caused by the "pin hole lenses" which the gaps between the leaves create. During an eclipse, small images of the partially obscured sun are projected onto the ground and the sides of buildings.
It's miraculous! Watch these wonderful videos. The third one is especially beautiful.
