Raj Patel is working on the problem. He said it was a glitch caused by the board's email settings and doesn't affect the adding of posts. _________________ ____________

Our tech support guy, Raj Patel, is wrestling with this problem. As near as we can tell, it happens occasionally for all members on certain threads. But it doesn't always happen on the same thread for every member!
In other words, I might get the DEBUG message on a specific thread, whereas you might NOT get the message on that same thread!
You probably noticed that the message makes reference to a failed email message the system tried to send. Raj hasn't yet determined why the system is trying to send an email in responses to a posted reply, and who it's trying to send it to!
So far he's eliminated the NSA, the FBI, and Russian hackers. (Whew . . . that's a relief, eh?)
Until he solves the problem, please keep posting and just ignore the message when it appears. Your posts are being successfully submitted, and you can see your post afterwards in one of two ways.
(1) Hit the ALL SCI-FI Forum Index button above the DEBUG message and then go back to the thread in which you posted.
— OR —
(2) Hit your "back" button twice and then "refresh" the page with the F5 button (or you can right-click and select the "refresh" icon from the popup menu).
Guys, I know the problem is annoying, but at least it only happens occasionally, and it's still great to have All Sci-Fi back, even with this little glitch. _________________ ____________

It occurred in my previous post, this is the message I get:
"Failed sending email :: PHP ::
DEBUG MODE
Line : 234
File : emailer.php"
I was the admin for a phpBB forum years ago and went back to my notes and I THINK?? this might be the fix:
Its a bad email address somewhere in the files which is why its sporadic, but try this.
Use FTP to download the file emailer.php from your server: it's in the 'includes' directory of your forum installation.
Open it in an editor and simply put two slashes (//) in front of line 234
Save the file, close it, and upload it to its original location ('includes' directory!) ...
If not you may need to upgrade to php BB3. |

I've deliberately waited several days to be sure the the "debug" message problem is gone.
And since it has not appeared a single time since 17 Oaks offered his wonderful suggestion for a solution (which Raj acted on and fixed the problem), it's about time we thanked 17 Oaks for solving what we hope will be the LAST problem with the New All Sci-Fi!
I'm thinking about making a new order of All Sci-Fi T-shirts this Spring, and if I do I'll be sure and send one to 17 Oaks. _________________ ____________
