British director Michael Anderson has passed away at the age of 98.

Michael directed sci-fi films 1984(1949 version)based upon George Orwell's classic novel,Logan's Run(1976),and The Martian Chronicles 1980 NBC miniseries based upon the iconic Ray Bradbury book.

He also directed Around The World In 80 Days based upon the Jules Verne book. The movie won numerous Academy Awards including Best Picture.

Michael served with the British Army Royal Signal Corps during WWII.
