I've had this kit in my stash since it was released a few years ago. I haven't built an eagle in a while, so it's next up.

As you can see it's a big kit!

The instructions have the build start with the cockpit.

The cockpit is just 2 pilots and a back bulkhead.

While watching the paint dry, I started on the spine. Each side is 2 pieces. I was a bit skeptical about the strength of it, but others who have built it say its very strong.

The tubing has mold lines that need to be sanded off, but the detail is very good.

The center boxes are built and I'm experimenting with pre shading.

This really is a good sized model!

Looks like it's going well!

A coat of primer.

I think it worked ok so far.

The cockpit is mostly done.

The CM is built.

The fit is good so far. I don't think much putty will be needed.

You can see inside the cockpit very well.

Again, this is a BIG kit!

Looks great!

Just remember , before you take it out for it's maiden spin that you run through the checklist! Be safe!

Gord,

Thats a nice graphic! Where did you find it?

But all the steps for the walk around are blank!

And the walk around would have to be accomplished
while wearing a space suit. That would limit the depth
of the check.

I'm assuming that the eagle has a complete self test system
to limit the exposure of the crew to hard vacuum. Also
the standard passenger pod has no airlock.

I found it on this site :

http://www.starbase79.com/space2.htm

Look around it using the bar on the left....LOTS of great bluprints, manuels, letterheads etc. from a host of great shows!

As bad as some SPACE;1999 stories may have been the ships and other tech were outstanding!

As much as I love the EAGLE as an all purpose spacecraft I absolutely love the HAWK...

One of the best, realistic fighters i've ever seen!
I have the smaller model in my "Hall of Fame" display models I've done.

Agreed!

I have the new R2 1/72 hawk on preorder.

I have 2 of old MPC kits on display.

Thanks for the link, I'll check it out.

I'm kind of jumping around in the build.

This link was given to me to help with the build:

https://lookaside.fbsbx.com/file/Eagle%20Construction%20Guidebook.pdf?token=AWwwnDHMsZvasvjmfn4VKPEMr2nB13jpw5tAdVWfR7ZDfQIYWbth4lKti8tSv5Rn14lkQjT8LelJ5-DL2lFM_LrF4HmDDVnjFcZcaAYqn9mk-b22_I41DdW7vmbM-VfgqTJplxbHTuUG8qYz1DYDta5b51YYGsHvDDBJb41frKEmBw

I finished the forward cage today and made a good start on the passenger pod.

Lots of parts are in this module, but the fit is amazing.
Getting everything to line up took some time. Once everything
was dry fit it held together very very well. I just ran the
Tenex into the seams and held for 5 sec. I don't think it needs the rubber bands, but it cant hurt.

So far the engineering on this kit is outstanding!

Thanks!

I'm still working on the eagle. Life has a way of taking me
away from the build.

The cages are done:

Steely eyed readers will note one big mistake on my part.
The top tubing on the front cage is mounted backwards. The locater pins are facing the passenger pod rather than the CM.

I'm having to drill new locator holes for the spine and I'll trim the pins off soon.

Speaking of the spine:

It's done.

Lots of pieces here. Each horizontal cross bar is an ndividual piece. It seems very strong at this point.

The passenger pod main construction is complete now. I have the metal parts pack, I'll leave those off until painting is complete.

Thanks.

I've started the gear pods.

9 parts each. I have to be careful here. The orientation of the parts is very important.

I've built the 2 front pods. The instructions have a good map in them to help with the locations.

I wont get to the rear pods for a few days.

All the gear pods are built.

Each pod is specific to one corner. Numbering them helped me.

I've started on the main motors.

Soon I'll have to start on the snake pit that is the
main motor plumbing. That should be fun.
