Kudos for these fine installments!
That is a goregous picture of Spock in the captain's chair, one of the best shots of Nimoy I've ever seen. Good choice.
I love the way you portrayed the "shaking" of the bridge! Clever!
The plot and the drama this installment portrays is, as usual, top notch!
A suggestion about the phaser beams in the battle scene; Paint.net has a feature called "blur" which allows you to selectively soften elements in a picture. Using it would help make the lines you drew for the phasers look a but more like glowing beams of energy.
And when I did the illustrations for The Wishbone Express, I discovered that adding a bit of perspective to a beam coming towards the viewer created a nice effect. I did it by drawing several lines that weren't parallel, they converged at the point at which the beam was fired.
I did the Wishbone Express illustrations with MS Paint, because I hadn't yet discover Paint.net. It would have saved me a lot of time, but MS Paint does in fact do things that Paint.net can't (like the "brush" feature, which makes smears of color like a paintbrush would), so I'm glad I was forced to use it and learn it's strong points before discovering Paint.net.
Just FYI.

As always, it's easy to imagine the familiar voices of these actors when I read the dialog you've written.
By the time I got to the end of the sequence above, I was even hearing those beloved bridge instrument sound effects in the back ground! I even caught a whiff of Yeoman Rand's perfume. (But that might just be because it's been a while since I've had a data . . . )
Anyway, your work certainly captures the flavor and the drama of TOS. In a way, it manages to do that even better than the Star Trek Continues episodes, despite the fact that they're very well done. _________________ ____________

Thanks Bud! I try to hear the voices of the characters as I write the dialogue. I've been able to drown out the bridge background chirps and buzzes for the most part up to this point.
As far as Rand's perfume... Ahhhhh! Yes! There it is...
I just had to get her in somewhere, I had a major crush on her as a 10 year old; as did most red blooded American boys at the time I think.
I like to try and sprinkle in the attractive female characters and crew at irregular intervals for added eye candy.
Just like they did on the show.
The flavor and drama comes from the flow... I mean it seems to almost write itself if the foundational elements make sense. Listening to music helps, at least with the battle scenes... I like Disturbed's music a lot for that! |

Love the story so far! Thanx Trecks!
And as for Rand..… Oh, yes! _________________ There comes a time, thief, when gold loses its lustre, and the gems cease to sparkle, and the throne room becomes a prison; and all that is left is a father's love for his child. |
