__________

Special thanks to Maurice for suggesting that I post the Starlog Photo Guidebook: Spaceships. Very Happy

As we all know, Maurice is a volunteer at Archive.org, those wonderful folks who provide the archived copies of magazines like Cinefantastique, Starlog, and many others.

When I began preparing the jpegs for a post of the Starlog Photo Guidebook: Spaceships I soon realized that it presented an unusual challenge. This was not the usual Starlog article with several pictures to support and enhance the text, this was a photo study on the subject, with a paragraph pertaining to the movies and TV series each spaceship appeared in.

Unfortunately, Starlog was unable to get the very best pictures for each entry in the article, and the scanning process was not able to reproduce the pictures very well.

To remedy this problem, I decided to upgrade as many of the pictures as I could, replacing them with high quality photos, which I carefully cropped and pasted into the article.
Sometimes I found better copies of the same photos that were in the article, but more often I replaced the original photos with a similar photo. Very Happy

The result is something I’m proud of, and I’m sure the folks at Starlog would appreciate my efforts to make their article look the way it would have if they'd had the 21st century resources I used to improve the look of the magazine. Very Happy

All of the “display” jpegs of each page below (and the larger images you can view by clicking on them) are my enhanced versions of the Starlog Photo Guidebook: Spaceships.

As a "bonus feature" for this post, starting on the third page you’ll see this message below each one:

Click here to see the original page above, before I enhanced it.

I hope you'll take a moment to compare the "before-and-after" images. I think you’ll be pleased by the results. Very Happy
