I had the good fortune to have permission from Tribune Entertainment to post the episode trailers online for all 5 seasons of Andromeda. I received the upcoming trailers from Tribune a week and a half before each upcoming episode was shown on network television. I had hundreds of fans eagerly awaiting my trailers each Wednesday night! I still have all of the episode trailers available on my Andromeda website.

If you want to see them go to

This was a series that I liked at first, watched the first three seasons of it and then stopped. Right now I don't really remember why I stopped watching it and it was unusual for me to drop a scifi series but I did.

I have it on good authority* that this is a series I should definitely watch.

* (The good authority is Randy. Big surprise.)

The first three seasons were very very good. The fourth seasons seemed to wander away from the central premise due to changes in show runners, producers, etc. and the last season turned into a hard to follow mess.

I remember some preview interview before the series began, in which Kevin Sorbo stated that the "Andromeda" series (by Gene Roddenberry) had some connection to his Star Trek - but later in time. But, I've seen no connection it the series.

After a few episodes, I found I did not like the series. I did not like the style of the Andromeda ship, and that silly rock-n-roll 'slipstream' flight. I did not like most of the characters.

I did like Dylan Hunt (Kevin Sorbo) as the captain. And I liked the techno-crazy Seamus Harper character (Gordon Michael Woolvett). But the most interesting character/concept to me was the ship's computer system, and its everywhere present hologram avatar - "Rommie" (Lexa Doig).

Rommie is quite a departure from the ship computer of the Gene Ronneberry's Star Trek - Enterprise. And the way advanced computers were treated in Star Trek TOS. Andromeda was even allowed to have on-board humanoid 'drone' robots, to do ship repairs. In Star Trek TOS... such advanced computers and robots were always treated with disdain.

I think Roddenberry's evolution to accept artificial intelligence as 'acceptable' (superior), occured around 1974 - with his "The Questor Tapes" (humanoid robot/android) tv movie.

My take-away from this Andromeda series will remain ... only the Andromeda hologram A.I. - ship's computer, and the ship's 'service droids'.

Thought that the design for the Andromeda Ascendant was incredible.

Never warmed up to this series & always felt that they simply reused concepts & tropes from previous sf tv shows.

Nice write up, Larry. I've tried to watch the show several times, but so far I just can't get into it.

Still, I might take another shot at it eventually, since Randy knows his stuff, especially stuff like this. And you've given me new things to think about -- which gets you one of this green things.
Cool

Nice trailer for season 5. I think I'll start downloading this series. It's really easy these days.

I did download the complete series off Youtube , but I've only really watched the first couple episodes.

Just so much to see and so little time!

What I've seen I've enjoyed tho.....

Trivia } The name Dylan Hunt was used on Gene Roddenberry's 2 TV-movie/pilots ''Genesis II'' & ''Planet Earth' 'for the lead character.

Although the radical and unique design of the Ascendant reminds me a little of the Orville, I like it much better.

Somehow the odd design of the Orville just doesn't appeal to me.
