Calling all Captain Hook fans! Once Upon a Time's Colin O'Donoghue has booked his next TV role, so prepare to start thirsting over his newest character, who's a voyager of a different kind!

Deadline reports that Nat Geo has chosen O'Donoghue to star as one of the leads in its upcoming series The Right Stuff, based on Tom Wolfe's best-selling novel. O'Donoghue will portray Lieutenant Leroy Gordon Cooper USN, who piloted the last and longest Mercury spaceflight in 1963, a role that originally belonged to Game of Thrones' Joe Dempsie. Dempsie reportedly had to drop out of the project due to visa issues. He'll star alongside Suits' Patrick J. Adams, who will play Major John Glenn USMC, and Limitless star Jake McDorman, who has been cast as Commander Alan Bartlett Shepard, Jr.USN.

The series takes place in the United States at the height of the Cold War and follows the nation's thrilling Space Race with the Soviets. The astronauts of the Mercury Project, known as the Mercury Seven, became instant celebrities as the world waited to see who would become the first man in space.

The Right Stuff is expected to debut in 2020.

I'm looking forward to their take on this book, however, the movie was so perfectly done that it will be difficult to reimagine it!

According to unconfirmed reports on sites which do not list their sources, they might show the entire US space program from the 'X' series to the shuttle.
