For those of you who have seen both movies, the main characters evolved into a higher form of human. Dark Phoenix is not as obvious, but Jean Grey did evolve like Lucy into an invisible form of higher evolution.

Lucy just had more actual science pointing to Lucy’s evolution than Jean Grey’s final form of Phoenix.

A well acted but deeply flawed film. Some characters were well handled (Like Quicksilver and Jean Grey.), but the writing was chaotic and confusing to the point of deja vue!

By the way...Your reference to "Lucy" was to the Australopithicus one....Right?

In that case I see the resemblance.

Wow, Mike, thanks for starting a thread for this movie on All Sci-Fi! I "standardized" your thread title, making it just the movie's name and release date, and I immediately put it in our Alphabetical Index for this forum to make it easy for our members to find it and reply! Very Happy

We pride ourselves on making sure that our member's posts aren't lost in a maze of duplicate threads for any given movie because the titles of the threads are confusing. That's why we standardize the threads' titles.

I'm sure our members will soon be replying to yours! In fact, Gord Green replied to your post before I even submitted this one! And he was right about this movie, too. According to the Wikipedia article, the movie stunk like used Pampers! Very Happy

I'll keep things rolling by adding the poster —

— and the trailer!

Also, here's the link to the thread for Lucy in case you want to post your interesting observation there, too! Very Happy

I am referring to Lucy starring Scarlett Johansson and Morgan Freeman directed by Luc Besson.

She evolved from a human into a god-like being. That’s true in both Dark Phoenix and Lucy.

Mike, is Dark Phoenix not as bad as the Wikipedia article suggests? If so, I'll gladly give it a try based on you're recommendation. Very Happy

I believe Dark Phoenix is a big improvement over X-Men The Last Stand. The story in The Last Stand was very boring and the story was very badly paced. Dark Phoenix is much better paced. It’s not as good as Lucy, but not bad and better than The Last Stand.

There is supposed to be a sequel to Lucy one of these days.

If you look at the recent X-Men movies and how the stories start out about mutants and human evolution, Dark Phoenix is the logical next step as Jean Grey evolves into what Apocalypse wanted to be — a god.

I did like the concept that Jean Grey thought she had a responsibility to protect her family. And, in this case, the X-Men were her family more than her biological family. She wanted to repent for killing her fellow X-Men by accident. So, she saved the rest of the X-Men from extraterrestrials more powerful than the rest of the X-Men.

You've sold me on the premise, Mike! Very Happy

I've put it on my Netflix list, and I'm looking forward to watching it, based on your helpful comments. Thanks!
