The Outcasts was a television western series created by Ben Brady & Leon Tokatyan.

It aired on ABC from September 23, 1968 until May 5, 1969, and totaled 26 episodes in its one season run.

Wikipedia: Jemal David (Otis Young) & Earl Corey (Don Murray) were old west bounty hunters who rode together. They were not friends, they were reluctant partners, both very fast on the draw, who were thrown together by circumstances.

Jemal was a former slave who escaped and served as a Union soldier in the Civil War. Earl was a former plantation & slave owner who served as a Confederate officer during the war.

Opening: "In the decade following the Civil War people of all Creeds and colors were part of the West. The following is a story about two of these people."

I remember being very impressed with this terrific western show when it first aired. Otis Young & Don Murray were complicated and imperfect as their characters. They both knew pain and disappointment. Working together as bounty hunters in order to make a living made sense to both of them. Safety in numbers. However, they never referred to one another as friends. They had a mistrust on one another and would often bicker on the trail during their quest for a bounty. The intensity that both actors brought to their respective roles was compelling. It was also radically different from the majority of western TV shows, where the lead casts were one big happy family, be it via actual bloodlines, or as friends. Not so on The Outcasts. The dynamic was a certain level of anger and resentment between the two men. The acting was first rate and relationship reflective of the real race relations of the 1960's. Add to that interesting and entertaining tales of the wild west each week and you had a marvelous series that deserved more seasons.

Some episodes are currently available on Youtube.

Good news, Pow! Here's a YouTube site which features 25 episodes from the series you describe above. It wasn't hard to find. I just copied-and-pasted the name of the series from your post into the YouTube search window and . . . presto!

There it was! Shocked

Give that a try next time.
Very Happy
