A new book coming out soon from well-known Star Trek author Dayton Ward celebrates the original Enterprise Captain - Kirk - and all his swell moves.

Published by Insight Editions, Star Trek: Kirk Fu Manual: A Guide to Starfleet’s Most Feared Martial Art promises to be “every Starfleet cadet’s must-have training guide for surviving the final frontier”.

From the book’s blurb: “Kirk Fu is a series of unarmed combat techniques developed by one of Starfleet’s most celebrated starship captains over several years of exploring deep space. A blend of various fighting styles, Kirk Fu incorporates elements of several Earth- based martial arts forms as well as cruder methods employed in bars and back alleys on planets throughout the galaxy. It is as unorthodox in practice as it is unbelievable to behold.”

The in-universe hardcover book features spreads of some of Captain Kirk’s most famous unarmed combat techniques, lovingly illustrated by Christian Cornia. Inside you’ll find such classics as the “Slippery Eel”, the “Tiberius Twist”, and of course, the standard karate chop. The book also includes excerpts from Kirk’s own notes and personal logs.

Star Trek: Kirk Fu Manual retails at $14.99 and is expected to be released in early March. You can preorder it now from Amazon.com, or wherever you buy your books.

High time he got his due as a martial arts expert. His moves were so good, they worked even if he missed the target!
