[Also released as: "The Damned"]
Grim and gloomy story about an American (Macdonald Carey) in a coastal English town who flees from a youth gang led by Oliver Reed and stumbles upon a cave inhabited by emotionless children who are part of a government project which teaches them how to survive the expected nuclear war.
Directed by Joseph Losey from a script by Evan Jones, adapted from H. L. Lawrence's novel "Children of Light". American theater audiences saw a drastically cut and re-edited version, but TV prints are the original film. _________________ ____________

Black leather, black leather, rock, rock, rock,
...
Black leather, black leather, crash, crash, crash,
Black leather, black leather, smash, smash, smash,
Black leather, black leather, kill, kill, kill...
Quasi-rock movie scores from the '50s and '60s always missed the mark, unless the singers and musicians who had made the charts actually appeared in the movie, performing their hits. If the music was composed by some movie studio writer, it invariably relied too much on sax and the lyrics were little more than parody. _________________ ...or not...

So, this is what Eric Von Zipper from the Beach Party movies would have looked like if he bought a suit and did his Oliver Reed impression.
I watched "These Are the Damned" once, and it was rough goin', to put it mildly. I think I liked "How to Stuff a Wild Bikini" better. Oh well . . . _________________ ____________

You've never really experienced rough goin' until you've tried singing the line,
Black leather, black leather, smash, smash, smash... _________________ ...or not...

Here's a YouTube video of the full movie.
Unfortunately the aspect ratio is screwed up (squeezed horizontally), so you'll have to either put up this clumsy crap or download the video, put it on a flashdrive, watch it on your TV, and adjust the aspect ratio — which I can do on mine, and I'm sure you can do it on yours, too.
Anyway, here's this rather grim sci-fi movie.
