I didn't read the Blackhawk comics very much when I was young, but I loved the concept, and I even made extensive notes for the plot of a movie version a few decades ago. Cool

I don't remember much about my story, except that the climax took place in the high Himalayas at the huge stronghold of a Fu Manchu-like villain.

Blackhawk (1952 serial)

Opening Statement: I wasn't a big fan of these DC comic books, but the basic idea was intriguing.

The Blackhawks were an elite, independent group of freedom fighters who flew advanced aircraft during WWII and battled the enemies of democracy.

Today I found out that a 15-part 1952 serial based on the comic book was produced by Sam Katzman and starring Kirk Alyn as Blackhawk. Alyn had earlier been the first screen Superman.

Red Dawn (1984)

Opening Statement: IMDB has several interesting trivia items for this production.

~ Five of the thirty-six paratroopers in the beginning of the movie did get blown as much as a mile off course during filming. One of them got stuck in a tree. He had to convince locals that he wasn't really an enemy soldier.

Note from me: What an embarrassing situation! I hope the actor didn't speak with an accent or the locals would never have been convinced!

The Thirteenth Floor (1999)

Opening Statement: IMDB has only one interesting trivia item for this production.

~ One of two major motion pictures released in 1999 about a futuristic simulation whose inhabitants believe they're in the real world. The other was The Matrix, which hit theatres a month earlier and made a slightly larger impression on audiences.

Note from me: I think the gentlemen demonstrating sarcasm. A slightly larger impression? Yeah, right.
