As the year draws to a close, today's featured threads offers two Stooges and a Mad Scientist! Shocked

The first has the Stooges in Medieval times, pitch hitting for Seven Dwarfs and an extremely causation princes who's up against a black queen. It's racial conflict in a very Grimm fashion, so to speak! Shocked

From there we rocket forward into the future, as the Stooge's boldly go were no Stooge has gone before!

And finally we travel back to the past again, but only to 1935 this time to find out if the dead can be brought back to life.

Yes indeed, it's out with the old and in with the new, and should auld acquaintance be forgot! (I always thought it was old acquaintance, but I found out I was wrong. However, the word means "old", so what the hell, eh? Rolling Eyes)

Snow White & The Three Stooges (1961)

Opening Statement: By gum, I saw this movie at a drive-in during my younger years, although it might have been a re-release several years later to provide a second feature for whatever movie was playing that night at the South Expressway Drive-in near Atlanta.

__________

Oddly enough, the only memory I have of the movie is the scene in which the Stooges are crossing a snowy landscape and see the queen after she's transformed herself into a witch as she flies nearby on her broomstick.

As she does, Curly-Joe says, "I wish that queen would go straight to Hades!" Shocked

Unfortunately for the queen, Curly-Joe possesses the magical Sword of Power which they took from the Queen's evil count, and it grants the bearer's wishes. So, Curly-Joe's pronouncement causes the queen to crash to the ground! Shocked

Have Rocket, Will Travel (1959)

Opening Statement: After watching Snow White and the Three Stooges (1961) and being very impressed by the fact that was a serious and sincere medieval fantasy adventure, I recently decided to give this Stooges sci-fi comedy a secnd chance from a YouTube version.

I first saw it at the Roosevelt Drive-in with my family in 1959 and was mildly amused (I was eleven years old), and I tried to enjoy it a few decades ago — without much success. Sad

However, Mike (Pow) has recently inspired me to reconsidered my previously negative opinion of the Stooges, and when I discovered their was a reasonable good copy on YouTube I decided to watch it.

Life Returns (1935)

Opening Statement: ~ This movie uses footage from actual University of Southern California experiment in which scientists claimed they brought a dead dog back to life. Robert E. Cornish, playing himself in the film, was one of the scientists involved.

Note from me: Modern medicine can resuscitate patients who are "clinically dead" and bring them back to life if the person hasn't sustained significant brain damage — in which case they are pronounced "legally dead".

What Dr. Robert E. Cornish was doing, according this article was nothing more than reviving brain-dead dogs with methods that have been greatly approved today.
