Your painting! As in, you painted it?

Brent, you've been hiding your light under a bushel!
Shocked

* Just FYI: Hiding lights under bushels has been deemed a fire hazard, especially if said bushel is extremely dry.

Yeah. About every 10 years I get the urge to paint. I do a couple of pictures and then put the brushes away for another decade.

A group of fans are building a 'working replica' of the LIS Chariot.

Follow the blog here:
http://chariot.elevatorid.com/

And on Facebook, here:
https://www.facebook.com/www.chariotbuild2015

I wish them success for their work. I also hope they would followup with a similar (working replica) build of the 1978 "Battlestar Galactica" Landram vehicle. It uses the same Thiokol Spryte Snowcat chassis. Wink

Got a new bot for my collection.

This is a recent release from Diamond Select Toys.

Unfortunately, it's actually less accurate than the old Trendmasters robot from the Late 1990's. It seems that they just decided to make the torso oversized in order to accomodate the electronics. I'm glad that Moebius makes that model kit for those of us who want a truly accurate robot.

Nevertheless, I collect B9s so I had to have this. The good thing is that it speaks MANY phrases and the lights activate when it talks. It's quite impressive in that regard. If only they had enlarged the legs to remain in proportion to the torso.

WE DIDN'T CELEBRATE! (sob)

Wednesday (September 15, 1965) was the premiere date of Irwin Allen's Lost In Space (CBS 1965 - 1968).

50 years young!

I received my set from amazon.ca today and I have watched the first three episodes.

It's glorious!

The DVDs were a disgrace. The three B&W episodes that I have watched today are among the very finest classic TV I have ever seen on Blu-ray...possibly THE finest. They are as close to perfect as I could have hoped for.

In about ten minutes, I intend to check out a color episode.

BTW, some people have reported a glitch at approximately 18:05 of the ISLAND IN THE SKY episode but this is most likely a player firmware issue. The episode played perfectly in my old Panasonic BD75 and many others report no problem.

I'm most of the way through the second season and I continue to be very impressed with this BD presentation.

Like many folks, the one little let-down has been the packaging which has the discs stored in cardboard sleeves. I hate that. Some people are buying the Viva Elite 6 BD cases. Those are nice but they are a bit pricey in Canada. I found another solution. I had a stack of CD jewel boxes which are dirt cheap at any office supply store. Then I got one of my old, reproduction LIS lunchboxes...since I got an original off of eBay, I didn't really have a good use for the repros. Put them together and got this nice arrangement:

I had some unexpected good luck today.

For awhile, I've been looking for the B9 bottle-opener than came out in late 2014. They are easy to find online but shipping to Canada is brutal. Getting one of these to Winnipeg would cost me $35 with luck.

Just last night, I discovered that a Jupiter 2 bottle opener is also made.

While surfing the 'net, I found a Canadian company called Sunrise Records has a website where they PLAN to start selling online but the store isn't active (it says "Online Sales Coming soon") and lists no prices. However, they did show the LIS bottle openers on the site.

Sunrise Records did open a store at the local mall just before Christmas so I payed them a visit...not expecting to find anything. I was shocked to spot the Robot bottle-opener at the top of a shelf, barely within my reach. Grabbing the robot, I blindly reached for the box underneath it and found the Jupiter 2 bottle opener. Furthermore, the store was having a 30% off sale that ended today. So I got BOTH of these for the equalivalent of $25.00US total. A good day!

Ever wonder who the uncredited actor was who wore the "salt creature" suit [in Star Trek]? Was he a veteran monster-suit wearer or some has-been character actor who needed the work?

Well, no . . .

The person in the suit was — amazingly enough — an attractive actress and stunt woman named Sandra Lee Gimpel! Good lord, she's much more attractive than either of the women the salt creature masqueraded as.
