Ridley Scott, who directed the original 1979 science fiction horror and returned for two further installments (Prometheus and Alien: Covenant, both prequel films that attempted to tell the origin of the Xenomorphs), will produce via his Scott Free banner.

The upcoming feature project will be the seventh Alien, and is intended to reboot the beloved sci-fi horror franchise. And though we don't know who she'll be playing, Cailee Spaeny's casting suggests the film will continue the franchise's tradition of pitting a strong female lead against the face-hugging monsters.
