The first video is a short pitch for the concept, by the company who makes this stuff. It's about a minute long.

The second one also pitches the concept (in about a minute) and shows it off a little better.

Neither of them really explains how it works. Maybe somebody else will post a better video.

This is not entirely unlike electroluminescent (EL) sheets, which have been around for a long time. One of their recent uses was as backlights for laptop computer screens, but back in the 1960s, Sylvania proposed covering walls with their EL sheets, just like these guys have suggested. This new Lightpaper might have a few advantages though, if it really uses LED technology:
1) It should be much brighter than EL, and
2) It will have a much longer half life than EL.

Actually, all of this was "predicted" by Robert A. Heinlein in his 1940 short story "Let There Be Light!".

I'm a fan of the early Heinlein stories, but I missed that one. I don't have the magazine in which it was originally published (SUPER SCIENCE STORIES, May 1940, according to Wikipedia) and it doesn't seem to be available for download anywhere.

I have finally found the May 1940 issue of SUPER SCIENCE STORIES at
https://archive.org/details/Super_Science_Stories_v01n02_1940-05_slpn .
It can be downloaded free in many formats, including Kindle and pdf.

"Let there be Light" begins on page 34. It is credited to Lyle Monroe, which is one of Heinlein's pseudonyms.
