This, I'm sorry to say, is one of the few Science Fiction Theatre episodes that aren't available on Youtube. Sad

But it's a wonderful story, and this is what IMDB says about it.

From IMDB: A group of scientists experiment with a new missile that will produce vast amounts of light at night. The experiment fails and the scientists have to figure how to shut the light off.

Fortunately I have the Shout Factory box set, and this episode is beautifully restored. Cool

The story focuses a young couple who have moved into a newly constructed, upscale subdivision. The young husband (played by DeForest Kelley) is a reformed ex-con who's trying to begin a new life with wife.

But the wealthy-but-bigoted businessman who financed the construction of the community feel that having an ex-con in the subdivision will upset the residence and devalue the property!

Three of the men plan to use threats and violence to force the young couple to leave "before the sun sets".

However, their plan is interrupted by the ambitious experiment being conducted at a nearby government launch facility which sends up a rocket to deploy a high-altitude device which creates a "second sun" in the sky, high above the Earth, whenever an area needs extra light for emergency situations. Shocked

Gentlemen, Shout Factory no longer sells their box set with the "fully restored" version of this great series.
But Amazon still has one left for sale, so if you'd like to own the box set of the only restored version of this series, get off your ass and order it today — because I'm tempted to buy it as a "collector’s item".
Shocked
