As you guys may have figured out, I am a huge Irwin Allen fan. Love all his work...in particular Voyage to The Bottom Of the Sea, Lost in Space, Time Tunnel AND Land of the Giants! I always wanted a copy of the hero Filming miniature, and fortunately I got one! This model is 16" in length and was made from files of the actual filming miniature. I airbrushed the model and matched colors from reference material. I also installed a faux Cockpit and my own engine/intake interior lights.

Love this classic 1960's design!

Wow, your model work AND your photos are magnificent!

All Sci-Fi member Brent Gair is gonna LOVE this! He's also done some excellent model work, including a version of this beautiful vehicle.

Here are several updated Photos of my Mark Joseph Dorais 16” Land of the Giants Spindrift build.
The model was made from scans of the actual filming miniature and as such, has all the beautiful flaws and asymmetrical goodness of it. Something I know I’m in the minority of model makers appreciate.

It’s been carefully weathered and detailed to reflect the hero miniature. In tribute the the filming model, my switches for the lights are in the passenger windows on the other side of the ship.

I also elected to use the transparent RED dome as seen during the majority of the series instead of the clear dome it currently wears.

Thanks!

You do remarkable work, sir. To quote Lord Vader, "Most impressive."

I'll probably regret even showing you this, but I monkeyed around with the Sprindrift's design ("Shame on you, Bud!"), and came up with an alternate version.

Forgive me, please . . . I can't built models, so I do this kind of thing, just for fun. (I think it looks kinda bad ass . . . )

THANKS VERY MUCH!

Here's my build with a comparison shot of the actual filming miniature as it is today...I didn't weather the model to the extreme as the real prop and my build has the logo on the side...
