~ A Question for the Members: The mantis did not grow as large as the one shown in this movie — as far as we know. But if they did, I wondered if the process of fossilization would be as effective in fossilizing the "chitin" of insect exoskeletons as it does the bones of dinosaurs.

~ Here's what I came up with.: I found this online.

Chitin: Arthropods have exoskeletons made of polysaccharide and protein. Chitin skeletons do not fossilize well, and are typically preserved as carbon films on impressions.

And so, folks, we can't actually say that giant mantis never existed! Hell's bells, those deadly creatures might have been the actual cause of the dinosaur's extinction! Today's mantis are formidable killers of many creatures which are far larger than they are!

Watch this amazing video and you'll easily believe that the giant mantis like the one in the 1957 movie could have wiped out all the dinosaurs on Earth! It shows a mantis killing birds, mice, lizards, and even snakes!

So, it's easy to imagine a giant mantis like the one on the movie attacking the largest dinosaurs on Earth!

Guys, don't judge this movie based on what we THINK science knows about the past! We've spent the last 70 years finding out all the ways science has been wrong. The video above proves that a giant mantis could attack and kill dinosaurs!

And remember . . . the prehistoric giant mantis would NOT have to prey on full grown dinosaurs! It could have easily feasted on the young ones with no problem at all!

Instead of doing another single gigantic DM again, how about having smaller, truck-sized ones, flying around?

Great idea! And I was thinking that prehistoric mantises were about the size of horses, so they would hunt baby dinosaurs.

A gigantic mantis like the one in the movie is one kind of threat . . . but a horde of smaller ones can attack multiple people in the streets, while others can smash into buildings and hunt down the residence!

Groups of them could charge at the military, while others swoop down like fighter planes and snatch up soldiers.

Many kinds of mantises are solitary and cannibalistic. I was wondering if some kinds of mantises lived in groups, somewhat like ants. I checked and found this.

Do praying mantis live in groups?

Most mantises are cannibalistic but some do well in communal habitats under certain conditions. I have studied this for years, learning which species can control the environment successfully. Certain species are more amiable to communal living.

So, there could be hidden groups of the mantises inside buildings that would have to be flushed out by the military.

If anyone is STILL not convinced that the Praying Mantis isn't the most dangerous badass on Earth, just watch this video! It shows a mantis in mortal combat with the one of the most lethal spiders known to man!

I'm tempted to have a T-Shirt made which says, "Hell is populated by hungry Praying Mantises."
