Thanks for sharing that Starlog article, Eadie! Very Happy

I added links to large, enhanced versions of each page to make the article easy to read. Below is the usual intro for articles on All Sci-Fi that offer that unique feature. Cool

Enjoy!_

Click on each page in Eadie's post above to see a large, easy-to-read version you can zoom in on. Click on the large version again, and then zoom in as close as you want!

I just read that fine article you posted, Eadie, and I really enjoyed it.

Pages 61 through 64 (and the first few paragraphs of 65) are basically just a plot synopsis of Forbidden Planet, but the rest of the article contains interesting info about the beloved robot. Very Happy

At the time the article was written, Bill Malone had not yet purchased Robby and restored him! Now here we are in 2019 and not only has Robby been bought and fully restored, he's been sold for $5.375 million!

Strangely enough, I still can't find out who bought him! The CBS News article (from November 22, 2017) about the sale, for example, just says "The buyer's name wasn't released." The Wikipedia article mentions the sale and the selling price, but they don't mention who the new owner is either.

That seems very curious . . . Confused

Long before the internet, it was Starlog & Cinefantastique that I rushed to the store to buy for all my sci~fi news. Got subscriptions eventually.

They had a variety of marvelous articles, photos, and interviews that gave me insights on how movie and television productions operated. Interviews with directors, writers, actors, special effects artists. How I looked forward to each new issue.

I managed to save quite a few of both magazines over the years...only to somehow lose them while moving. A dark day indeed when I discovered this as I went through all my boxes.
