This seems to be a compilation of scenes done after The Undiscovered Country, starring several of the actors from the film, as part of a video game. Somebody cobbled the live action scenes together and made a "movie" out of it.
I haven't watched it yet, and I'm sure it's dramatically flawed, but based on what little I watched, it's interesting.

......What if I told you there is another Star Trek movie after Star Trek Generations, with Shatner reprising his role as Kirk?
YouTuber Julian Hiti edited together all of the cutscenes from the late-1990s videogames Starfleet Academy and Klingon Academy to create a movie you can watch for free, with Shatner front and center. The PC games came on CD-ROM, and featured live-action video scenes that let you choose your character's response to questions. Starfleet Academy takes place at space-captain school, where cadet David Forrester (Peter Kluge) struggles to learn how to command his crew of fellow cadets. Some of them are tempted to join Vanguard, an insurgent group that wants the Federation to abandon its peace-loving values and wage war with the Klingons. Vanguard's hand is strengthened by mysterious attacks on Federation outposts along the Klingon border.

This is actually a "not bad" movie considering how it was put together. The characters are a bit one dimensional and there is some but very little characterization.
The one thing I found a bit annoying after a while are the "cuts" between questions and answers by the characters ( no doubt because that is the point where the player would choose a response.).
All and all an interesting story. In ST:TNG this would have been a Wesly story so it's interesting to see it in the original series movie context.
The discription from IDMb puts it like this:
"In this FMV space combat simulator with elements of an adventure game, you play David Forester, a young human cadet at Starfleet Academy who is going through the extensive command training system that uses several simulator scenarios of missions with a variety of ship classes.
In addition, you interact with your various classmates with the mundane situations on campus. You also have some meetings with Captain Hikaru Sulu and Pavel Chekov while Captain James T. Kirk assigns the missions.
Through various dialogue options and other choices, you shape your story and must prove to yourself, your crew that's prone to infighting and Kirk that you are worthy of the captain's chair. The true test though arrives when your Vulcan member of the bridge crew gets hurt in an explosion.
The first signs of a conspiracy that wants to push the Klingons and the Federation into another bloody conflict emerge here. You must also solve the mystery of a living spaceship created by an unknown alien race. " |
