Thanks, Gord. I needed to hear that. After doing such a sterling job of explaining which way the sun moved across the sky, I turned around and stated that it would be dark in California when the sun was setting on the East Coast!
To quote Dr. Smith, "Oh, the pain . . . the pain . . . "
Concerning your kind Flu defense, I do have an interest update on that. I didn't have the Flu after all! I was suffering from the side effects of the cholesterol medication I've been taking for the last six weeks ??? atorvastatin, which is the generic form of Lipitor.
Various websites state that a person should stop taking this stuff and call their doctor if they experience the following side effects.
Muscle pain, weakness, confusion, memory problems, fever, unusual tiredness, and weight gain.
Well, by God I had them all, but I just thought it because I was getting old!
These symptoms have been increasing over the last few weeks without my realizing it, until they got so bad I thought I had the Flu!
Three days ago I finally figured out what was causing my problems, and I stopped that damned medication. After feeling better ever since I did that, I feel great today!
So, that's my excuse for being so dumb I literally didn't know the time of day! And I'd like to thank you kind folks for breaking the news in such a diplomatic manner that I'd goofed.
Hey, isn't it ironic that all these miracle drugs which are supposed to extend our lives all have side effects that make us miserable?
The only exception to this is a drug that was originally developed to lower a person's blood pressure ??? but which turned out to have a side effect which made it much more valuable to the drug companies.
This one.

I know what you mean Bud. I've been taking atorvastatin for the last 7 years along with a cocktail of 12 other drugs (All perscribed by my doctors of course!). All have various side effects, but I can say this much. At 52 they told me if I was very careful I might make it to 60.....I'll be 70 in a couple of weeks.
So sometimes you have to suck it up and work through it. Perhaps your dosage was too high. I take 10mg....1/2 of a 20mg every night and its kept my numbers excellent. BUT everyone handles meds differently. All of mine make me so dizzy I use a cane just to keep from falling over.
Find a better substitute if you have to, but don't go without meds you need (My opinion only!). |

If I have to take a drug that makes me feel like I have the Flu to live longer, I don't want to live longer.
The quality of my life is more important than the quantity. My father died of Alzheimer's, and by the time he died, he was a sad version of the dynamic man I'd known and loved. He past away in 2000 because he had food in his mouth and had lost the ability to swallow it. So, he choked to death in his sleep.
My mother died of COPD in 2008 after being miserable for the last year of her life while she felt her oxygen-starved brain slowly die and her intelligence diminish. She had always prided herself for being much smarter than the average person, so knowing her mental abilities were dwindling was pure torture.
About ten years ago I was at my fitness center with a group of friends, one of whom was a doctor. He made a humorous remark one day about what were all doing there at the gym.
"Just think, every day we spend here working out is one more day we'll spend in a nursing home."
What I learned from all this was that death is not the worst thing that can happen to a person. Living TOO long is far worse.
So, when I go to my doctor in two weeks for my next blood test, I'll tell her that after spending two years refusing to take atorvastatin because of the side effects I'd read about, I found out I was right after all.
In other words, I'm not going to give up enjoying today just so I'll be a bit more likely to live tomorrow.
However, if she prescribes Cialis, I'll give it a try . . . _________________ ____________

Yes, I know what you mean. But at least your blood pressure would be lower! _________________ ____________

A few days ago I got the scheduled day wrong for a chat with Gord Green and Bulldogtrekker to watch Valley of Gwangi.
I started this thread so I could let folks know when such chats were taking place, but then I neglected to add posts here for that very purposed.
I'll try to do better, starting with this announcement: Valley of Gwangi is now scheduled for 11/30 Thursday evening at 6:30 Eastern Standard Time, in the Chatzy room. Here's the link.
