This week our cult classic movie buff Mark returns with his second look at one of the best 1950’s era SF films, “This Island Earth” podcast. This is a blast of a movie and here are some words from Mark on the subject.
This is Mark Daniels from the Great Pacific. I’m back this with another classic science fiction movie. Today’s movie is my favorite 1950s science fiction movie. It’s “This Island Earth”, starring Jeff Morrow, Faith Domergue and Rex Reason. It’s a classic science fiction movie. It’s got aliens, spaceships and mutants. What’s not to love? If you haven’t seen this movie, please check it out. It’s a fun movie! You will not be disappointed....

I tend to think of the movie as "This Island Earth" - adding the comma rather changes the approach. The post above has the comma - while this poster doesn't:
And there's another option, even...

I normally leave out the comma, but there it was in the poster, so I added it.
Changing the subject: Do you watch Formula 1 Grand Prix, or am I lumping al Englishmen together? I love the sport. |

Thanks for posting that wide screen poster of TIE, Custer. It's one that I have not seen before. I went a-googling and found a hi-res version of your picture. With a little photoshopping, the center seam could be easily removed. It's a great panoramic poster, and it's about to become my screen saver.
The 6352 × 4224 pixel, 7.6 megabyte image is at

That larger version is rather splendid, and a more useful shape for a desktop screen. And what better to have there than "The supreme excitement of our time"?
I can't say that I have been watching Formula 1 motor racing in recent years... sometimes such events are hidden away on specialist TV channels, with a subscription cost, but I don't know what the deal is currently. And sometimes, as the event moves around the world, the race time is a bit inconvenient!
