Both this movie and Avengers: Infinity War had budgets in the hundred-millions and box office takes that topped one billion!
Black Panther
Budget - $200–210 million
Box office $1.340 billion
Avengers: Infinity War
Budget - $316–322 million
Box office $1.291 billion
Good Lord A'mighty! Remember the 1950s, when Hollywood thought the only way to make a profit on science fiction films was to to keep the budgets low and make a lot of them?
My, my. Times have certainly changed.
And what about the drastic change in the basic concept of superheroes? They've certainly been reinvented as serious warriors who battle evil and defend mankind. Stan Lee is largely responsible for that, and we love 'em for it!
Even the more traditional approach to superheroes presented by TV series like Flash and Supergirl have managed to make tights-and-capes more appealing to viewers who are no longer comic-book-reading kids.
Yes, sir — we're certainly living in a sci-fi lovin' age!

Times have changed, yes — that first Iron Man movie may have been a bit of a gamble, but it sure has paid off. Cunning of the studio to change the title of the Avengers movie from Avengers: Infinity War part 1, which might have put some people off. And the, um, slightly open ending gets classified as a spoiler one shouldn't mention to people who've not been along to see the film yet!
And let us not forget the Star Wars franchise, with Han going Solo later this month . . . |

With Disney gobbling up everything in sight like a black hole, including Marvel Entertainment for 4 billion dollars, I can't help but wonder how this mega-corporation manages to allow talented people to make such great movies. We all know the old saying, "Too many chef's in expensive business suits spoil the broth".
We've seen the suits screw up movies all too often.
But maybe with Disney being so large, it's forcing the army of suits to share the power, and when one suit makes a stupid suggestion that would spoil a movie, there's enough smart folks around to shout him down!
After all, it's not like the House of Representatives, where everybody on one side hates a certain president and everybody on the other side thinks he can walk on water.
Gee, maybe Disney should make a movie about it! And they could buy the government first, just so they run it right and get something done! _________________ ____________
