Does the DVD set have the withheld episode? It is strange that they are not Blue-ray discs.

I doubt if the held-back episode in on board - the description on Amazon.co.uk doesn't list the number of episodes, but it is certainly the official release.
Quote: | From Emmy Award-winning executive producer and creator Seth MacFarlane (Family Guy, Ted, Cosmos: A SpaceTime Odyssey), THE ORVILLE is a live-action, one-hour space adventure series set 400 years in the future that follows The U.S.S. Orville, a mid-level exploratory spaceship. Its crew, both human and alien, face the wonders and dangers of outer space, while also dealing with the problems of everyday life. The ensemble series stars MacFarlane as the ship's Captain, Ed Mercer, and Adrianne Palicki (Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., Friday Night Lights) as his ex-wife, who's assigned as his First Officer. Additional cast members include Penny Johnson Jerald (24, The Larry Sanders Show), Scott Grimes (American Dad!, Justified), Peter Macon (Shameless, Bosch), Halston Sage (Neighbours, Goosebumps), J Lee (American Dad!, The Cleveland Show), Mark Jackson (That Royal Today) and Chad L. Coleman (The Walking Dead, The Wire).
THE ORVILLE is produced by 20th Century Fox Television. The series was created and written by Seth MacFarlane. MacFarlane, Brannon Braga (Terra Nova), David A. Goodman (Family Guy), Jason Clark (Cosmos: A Spacetime Odyssey, Ted) and Liz Heldens (Mercy, Deception) serve as executive producers on the series. Jon Favreau (The Jungle Book, Iron Man) directed the series premiere episode. |

Brannon Braga also produced and wrote a number of the Star Trek productions. _________________ ...or not...

Very true. Perhaps they didn't think it was tactful to actually mention Star Trek in the listing...? |

I watched the last episode, and liked it. But it proves that the Captain is an idiot! Not only does he give an enemy valuable intelligence about fake files in the computer, but he then compounds his stupidity it by letting her go!
On the other hand, he did get even more valuable intelligence about the Krill being able to make themselves human, and very serious infiltration into the Union military. No telling how bad the infiltration into the government and military is. I wonder if they will do anything with it.

I think that was a good idea. That petite little girl from the first season just wasn't convincing as a super strong alien gal. Admittedly, the new one is only slightly better.
By the way, am I the only one who thinks this show is pushing the gay lifestyle a bit too hard? Ever episode promotes same-sex relationships. _________________ ____________

I agree Bud. I’d much rather see good old human - robot sex! Oh wait! They just did that last episode. Still the robot changed into a man’s skin so it’s all good. |

You've never watched "The Family Guy", have you Bud? MacFarlane has always been a very left leaning homosexual advocate, and socialist. He was a big supporter of Bernie Sanders.
I laugh every time the show tries to explain the no money thing with social credits. It completely ignores that he showed exactly why the system wouldn't work, when he promoted Lt. Jackass to a position he wasn't trained for over the being that deserved the promotion, all to make Lt. Jackass feel good about himself. The Captain just trashed the Blob's social credit for no real reason.
It keeps reminding me of a "Dragnet" episode, where some teenagers were stealing items to go start a 'perfect' society on an island. Friday pointed out that they didn't have the one thing they would need for a perfect society: Perfect people!

Update: I can't figure out what to think about this show!
The episode called Ja'loja was a silly story about going all the way to Bortus home world so the crew could watch him do his annual ceremonial urination. It seemed like a spoof of Spock's Pon Far ritual. Except that everybody had to find dates for the occasional.
Good lord . . .
And yet the very next episode, Primal Urges was a serious yarn about a planet on the verge of being destroyed by the nova eruption of their star, and they had to be convinced that they should evacuate! Good stuff.
After that we got a very powerful story called Home, in which the cute little super-strong Alara has to return to her heavy-gravity home world because her body is deteriorating in 1G gravity, the way human body's do in zero G!
Great concept! Not to mention great drama, when the story brings Doc from Voyager (as Alara's unsupportive father) face-to-face with Enterprise's Dr. Phlox as a crazy father who blames Alara's family for the death of their own child!
Wow . . . powerful stuff.
I've not yet watched my DVR of Nothing Left on Earth Excepting Fishes, but I'm hoping the trend towards fewer trivial stories and fewer gay lifestyle stories will continue.
After all, it appears that we can't count on any new Star Trek on regular TV in the foreseeable, and I watched every episode of the existing ones (except Deep Space Nine several times each with the late Bulldogtrekker.
We were both ready for a new Star Trek series by the time he passed away. _________________ ____________
