Over at http://waltripcomics.yolasite.com/gort-and-robby.php there are a whole series of hilarious panel/stories of the adventures of our favorite robots from The Day the Earth Stood Still and Forbidden Planet: Gort & Robby on a weird road trip. Descriptions from the site:

GORT & ROBBY strip #1 — ROBO TRIP

Two of science fiction's most famous robots go on a road trip together that will take them … To Inanity And Beyond!

Traveling through the Arizona desert in his 1956 Cadillac Convertible, Robby recounts his past adventures on Altair IV and the C-57-D cruiser to Gort, who recalls an adventure of his own. Both products of advanced alien technology, the two robots have withstood centuries of wear and tear, but can they stand … each other?

GORT & ROBBY strip #2 — LAS VEGAS

Gort and Robby's road trip takes them to Las Vegas where the duo-tronic duo try their luck at one of the grandest casinos on the strip. Place your bets to see if they can beat the house, but staying out of trouble will be their biggest gamble!

This strip picks up right where the first one left off. Linear narrative writing seems to be my default. The story features Maria from the 1927 film Metropolis and The Colossus of New York from the 1958 movie of the same name.

GORT & ROBBY strip #3 — TRIAL AND ERROR

After getting arrested in Las Vegas, Gort and Robby are taken to Robot Court where they encounter a robot judge, a robot prosecutor, and a cannibal defense attorney from the future! Personalities and legal programs clash as the defendent-droids' fates hang in the balance, but justice will be the last thing served in this court.

The cannibal defense attorney is of course a Morlock from George Pal's 1960 film of H.G.Wells' book The Time Machine, AND a parody of Andy Griffith's lawyer character Ben Mattlock.
I know … "if you have to explain the joke, it's not funny", and in no way am I implying that Andy Griffith was a cannibal. It's just a play on words, honest.

GORT & ROBBY strip #4 — RESERVATION FOR TWO

After serving out their court sentence, Gort and Robby are back on the road again. Stopping at a Reservation to use the restroom (yes, robots can use restrooms!), Gort and Robby find a whole community of aliens in the desert with a strange origin and even stranger names.

The aliens are Metaluna Mutants from the 1955 Universal movie "This Island Earth". I also managed to squeeze in some giant tarantulas as a nod to the 1955 Universal movie TARANTULA! Hey … maybe Universal can add those monsters to their new Dark Universe franchise.

Wouldn't hurt. Probably wouldn't help either, but wouldn't hurt.

GORT & ROBBY strip #5 — RUST STOP

Gort and Robby stop at an old run-down cabin in the desert to rest for the night, but find there's no rest at this stop. There's more to the cabin than meets the eye … and it's all underground!

Other featured robots include some Daleks from Doctor WHO and a Terminator.

GORT & ROBBY strip #6 — RUST STOP PART 2: OIL AND TROUBLE

Gort and Robby's adventure at the WildFire Robot Rest and Rehabilitation Center concludes as they try to find a way out of the underground complex with their hides intact!

The WildFire Complex is borrowed from the 1971 film The Andromeda Strain. I couldn't find any pictures of the sets without people in them, so I had to meticulously remove the actors from the images I could find. A long, laborious process, but well worth the results.

GORT & ROBBY strip #7 — A SPACE ODDITY

Gort and Robby go into space, and have an out of this world adventure that takes them to Jupiter and Beyond the Infinite! But first they have to stop at a space station for gas.

This strip starts off a five part parody of 2001: A Space Odyssey, one of the greatest science-fiction films of all time. An epic film deserving an epic web comic spoof … or … an epic web comic deserving epic material, especially if it's running low on ideas.

GORT & ROBBY strip #8 — A SPACE ODDITY PART 2

Gort and Robby's space adventure continues as they try to find a way off the space station … in space!

Everything's more exciting in space, right?

The special guest robot in this episode is V.I.N.Ccent, from the 1980 Disney film, The Black Hole. Disney tried to have their own cute little robot in their own cute little space movie. Didn't turn out so well. Disney did finally get to have their own successful sci-fi film … but they had to buy STAR WARS to do it.

Well, maybe not that exciting.

GORT & ROBBY strip #9 — A SPACE ODDITY PART 3

Gort and Robby finally get off the space station and travel to the moon where they make a monolithic discovery!

This strip uses more images of 2001: A Space Odyssey than any other by simply adding humorous captions and balloons to still-frames from the film. But once we reach the moon, images from other sci-fi movies and TV. shows get used like: SPACE: 1999, First Men in the Moon, and The Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy.

GORT & ROBBY strip #10- — A SPACE ODDITY PART 4

Gort and Robby are sent on a special mission by a special … person?

More references to The Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy in this strip and a throw-away gag to Back to the Future. Hitchhikers didn't do very well at the box-office, but it's still an entertaining and underrated film. It's a pity we won't see the other Douglas Adams book adapted to the screen.

It also has a great opening musical number, So long and thanks for all the fish!

GORT & ROBBY strip #11- A SPACE ODDITY PART 5 EPILOGUE

Having completed their mission, Gort and Robby travel back to Earth with a little help from their new friend … The Monolith!

This strip completes the five-part parody of 2001: A Space Odyssey and ends the Gort & Robby series … so far. It uses almost every shot from the Stargate sequence that I could find, and makes for a very fitting conclusion for two of Science-Fiction's greatest robots. Gort and Robby … Beyond the Infinite!

But I like to think that if I never get to do another Gort & Robby strip, at least I got them to save the entire Solar System. Maybe in the future, when I have some more time, I'll come back and do something with them. Until then, enjoy these road trips, and I'll try to think of some others. Thanks for reading.

I'm open to any ideas the readers also..
