Perhaps we're so enamored with Robby from FORBIDDEN PLANET because he was the first real depiction in form with our vision of what a real functioning robot would look like.
Not since Maria in METROPOLIS had there been such a vision!
BUT...Robots have been portrayed for a very long time before Robby was ever conceived.
And one thing I have to say...They seemed to attract a lot of good looking women!
Ladies and gentlemen...I give you...

Wow, what an absolutely stunning gallery of rare and wonderful images! 
I don't think I've ever seen 95% of them before. You certainly made your point beautifully about the number of movie, TV, and promotional robots that have existed — many of which we weren't even aware of!
Sir, you are to be commended for coming up with the idea, doing the extensive research, compiling and organizing the images, and presenting your concept so eloquently.

I think you're mistaken. Tobor doesn't seem to one of the images above.
