This is what the "reply" button would have led to on one of the Featured Threads from a few days ago. The U. S. S. Enterprise DLL-1701:

Wow, Eadie! Thanks!
When I saw that none of the YouTube links worked on the original post, I just deleted it! Heck, I'd forgotten what the post was about!
Eadie, you corrected a grievous error on my part, and I'm very grateful! _________________ ____________

Excellent post Eadie. Ya know... I think I remember seeing this ship in a video awhile back. Thanks for bringing it back to me. Truly a wonderful enterprise. |

I like this design much better than the fragile shape of the TOS version. I've always thought it looked flimsy and sort of like random pieces stuck together.
This one has a solid, macho look! _________________ ____________

Frankly, I think it looks a bit too military. And is that a landing pad with a late-20th-century helicopter?
The original starship Enterprise looks graceful and elegant, like a clipper ship under full sail. |

She does appear to be armed to the teeth. Must be expecting some trouble on the other side of the worm hole. Hopefully they pulled that helicopter back into its hangar before taking off. |

Interesting observation, Steve!
I wonder if it really has more weapons than the Star Trek ships we're used to seeing, or are they just more visible?
After all, we see no real evidence of the phasers and the photon torpedoes on the Star Trek ships, but they sure pack a wallop!
This version of the Enterprise seems to be using weapons considerably less advanced than the ones in TOS and the later series, so they'd undoubtedly be less destructive. And because of that, the ship would need to maximize what it DID have in order to protect itself out on the Mean Streets of the Milky Way!
And about that helicopter . . .
Seriously, a helicopter? _________________ ____________

And why not? If this an Alcubierre drive ( https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alcubierre_drive ) then this is what Andre Norton called a "flitter" and was used in Robert Anson Heinlein's novel Time for the Stars, (1956).
Flying cars are not commercially, industrially or militarily viable (as yet) so we must to have something for planetary exploration! _________________ ____________

In the Andre Norton books, the Flitters were more like the Spinners in "Blade Runner", but in varying sizes. Interestingly, she still had helicopters too. I think it depended on how settled a planet was. A less settled world used helicopters, easier to maintain with less advanced resources.
