I did some research on the house used in This Island Earth, Tarantula and The Creature Walks Among Us using aerial photos from the time and the result was that it was not the "Dabney House". Instead, it was a house that was located on the hills within the Universal Studios. In 1958 or 1959 it was torn down because the part of the hill where it was located was removed to make room for more stages. Then a similar house, the "Dabney House", was built not far from Courthouse Square (the famous square in Back to the Future) and was used, for example, for Inherit The Wind in 1960.

I have prepared a map with the exact location of where both these houses were:

Well, I'll be damned! Welcome back, Danilo! Shocked

You've made a total of seven interesting posts on All Sci-Fi between 2014 and 2021 — and we've all yearned for more contributions during those long gaps in between! Sad

Now you've returned and presented us with this unique and original bit of research! Frankly, sir, it's EXACTLY the kind new ideas we love around here. Very Happy

In short . . . thank you!

All Sci-Fi's Saturday Live Chat (<— link) recently featured This Island Earth, so our mental images of the house are fresh in our minds. And the history of the house which you provided is greatly appreciated! Smile

Please don't let too much time elapse before you grace us again with your presence and your unique contributions. Message boards like All Sci-Fi are in danger of extinction — and we're desperately in need of members who can add interesting and original ideas like yours. Cool

Thanks Bud.

I add some additional pictures and info:
in photo 1 the house in question is indicated by arrow A and in photo 2 by arrow C. Both photos are from the first half of the 50's. Photo 3 is a frame from Tarantula taken just before the car with the protagonist arrives at the house (the camera is positioned inside the driveway leading to the house). Photo 4 is a frame taken from The Creature Walks Among Us. Also in this case the car is entering the driveway of the house (the camera is positioned further to the right and a little further back than in photo 3). The road is the same: you can verify that the profile of the hill, arrow H in photo 3, is the same as arrow I in photo 4. That is the road indicated by arrow B in photo 1 and arrow D in photo 2. You can also verify that this is a slightly downhill road (since it comes from a higher point on the hill). The "Dabney House", the one near Courthouse Square, on the other hand, was in a flat area where there is no downhill or hill.
