I question the morality of these "god-like" beings. 
They said they would destroy the ship of the captain who lost the battle. Apparently they felt that whichever being was the smartest and the most ruthless deserved to survive.
And yet when Kirk spared the Gorn, they let both of them (and their ships) survive. However, the Metron who appeared and spoke to Kirk said that they were surprised when he'd spared the Gorn, and so they'd decided that "there's hope for your race yet." Then he said, "We've sent [the Gorn] back to his ship. If you like, we will destroy it for you if you wish."
What incredible arrogance! 
These condescending beings praise Kirk for sparing the Gorn, but then they blithely offer to kill the crew of the Gorn ship.
Who the hell gave these sissified aliens the right to judge both humanity and the Gorn race in such a coldhearted manner?
