Here's two interesting posts from Target Earth and one from This Island Earth. And here's a suggestion for A reply that would go with any of the three posts.

Imagine a movie called Target: This Island Earth. The Zagons have destroyed Metaluna, and now they want to wipe out Earth because they hate humans as much as they hated Metalunans. So they send an army of robots to destroy mankind, first with a limited attack on an America city to test the prototype robots.

They were defeated.





Then they launched a global assault with an improved version.

Meanwhile, Rex Reason, Faith Domergue, Richard Denning, and Kathleen Crowley work with a team of international scientists to reverse engineer the robots that were deactivated in the first, small-scale assault.

The plan is to have our "new, improved" robot army battle the Zagon's robot army!

This would a sequel to both of the classic sci-fi movies, a novel idea that was not done until a few of the Marvel movies made it work.

I think I'll post my idea in both the Target Earth and This Island Earth threads. That way, you folks can add your own ideas to the discussion!

Target Earth (1954)

I'll say one thing for these imposing (if a bit "boxy") robots — they're a lot more mobile than either Gort or Robby!

Apparently the costume was fairly light, because the man inside was able to move around pretty well. He crashes through a window, strides across the room, and then (best of all) chases our heroes up a flight of stairs!

I'm not sure that even Tobor the Great could do that . . . although Tobor did impress the audience when he jumped into a jeep and drove like a bat-outta-hell across rough terrain, knocked down a barn door, bitch-slapped the bad guys all over the place, and then lifted the rear of their car off the ground so they couldn't escape!

I debated giving the robot a make-over like I did for the one in Devil Girl from Mars, but I just didn't have any good ideas for the necessary changes. However, fixing the Devil Girl robot was fun!

This Island Earth (1955)

I rarely go to Facebook anymore, but tonight I noticed that they had displayed a photo on my timeline which I'd posted on January 19th, 2014, a little over five years ago, which shows my long-time friend and fellow artist, Jim Peavy, at a convention with star Rex Reason!





Jim is the guy shown in the photos below in the 1980s during a "movie night" with our friends, during which we watched This Island Earth. The young man with Jim is Chris Adams, who was wearing Metallunan make up designed and applied by Jim.







And these photos show our fellow friend, Larry Hanson, who created a cake in the shape of Earth, which had a tiny saucer suspended above it on a thin string.







By the way, the cake had a "molten core" filled with strawberry ice cream! We asked Larry how the heck he managed to bake a cake which had strawberry ice cream in the middle. He explained how he did it.

If any body wants to know the secret . . . just ask me.
