1933 was a great year for Robert Armstrong.
He appeared in The Billion Dollar Scandal, King Kong, Fast Workers, I Love That Man, Above the Clouds, Son of Kong, The Most Dangerous Game, and this move — a wonderful comedy/adventure/mystery yarn which reunites him with his Son of Kong co-star, Helen Mack.
The adventure takes place in London, where Robert and Helen meet and team up with a feisty old cat burglar played by Roland Young (from the Topper series).
They run afoul a group of international spies who have plans to steal military secrets. The dialog by Ruth Rose (screen writer for King Kong, Son of Kong, and Mighty Joe Young) is extremely witty.
The direction by Ernest B. Schoedsack (who also directed the three movies above) is filled with skillful touches that make this movies seem like a lighthearted Hitchcock film!
The executive producer is Marion C. Cooper, the producer of the movies listed above as well!
I highly recommend this terrific movie — which is airing on TCM on November 12th at 11:15 pm EST.
YouTube doesn't have the movie or the trailer . . . _________________ ____________
