From Wikipedia ~
Dune: Part Two is a 2024 American epic science fiction film directed by Denis Villeneuve, who co-wrote the screenplay with Jon Spaihts.
The sequel to Dune (2021), it is the second of a two-part adaptation of the 1965 novel Dune by Frank Herbert, and follows Paul Atreides as he unites with the Fremen people of the desert planet Arrakis to wage war against House Harkonnen.
Premise
Paul Atreides continues his journey, united with Chani and the Fremen, as he seeks revenge against the conspirators who destroyed his family, and endeavors to prevent a terrible future that only he can predict.

Went to see it today.
I don't want to give any spoilers.
I give it a 6.5 out of 10.
The cinematography was excellent, I thought Chani was kind of weak. I didn't love how they handled the whole Jamis thing. It worked, but they missed an opportunity. Christopher Walken was excellent.
With over 5 hours of screen time, I thought they could have done more.
As the movie went on it started to shift from the book. The end was a slight disappointment.
Why deviate from such a well written story. |

After sleeping on it,
My disappointment with the movie grows.
As I said, the Chani character is slightly changed.
But so is Stilgar. It's a subtle change, but a powerful one.
There is one other change/omission that is glaring, I'll hold off posting about it as it might be a spoiler.
Anyway, after seeing Villeneuve's take on BladeRunner 2049 and Dune, I fear for what Rendezvous With Rama will become. |

Thanks for the warning, sir. The ads for this movie praise it to high heaven, saying things like "You'll feel like you did when you saw Star Wars for the first time!" _________________ ____________

Having waited hours in line on the opening day of Star Wars, I can say that this movie was not like that.
My wife and I sat in theater with less than 10 people in it.
It just shows the problem with bringing Dune to the big screen.
Oddly enough, the Science Fiction channel's early 2000's miniseries does a better job.
