This is a wonderful video! But I'm not sure I see the point of elevators that go up and down as well as sideways.

Somebody please explain this to me. Confused

Think of the "turbo lift" on the ENTERPRISE . It not only goes verticly but also lateraly. How else could you reach engineering and the shuttle hanger from the bridge ?
