He's at it again, the young guy who gave us videos about scientific inaccuracies in sci-fi movies and which movies were better than the books that inspired them.

This time it's Mars movies. Very cool video. Very Happy

I watched it, and it's well thought out.
Many valid points, but incorrect, Even though he
references one of my favorite books- Packing For Mars"

The Martian should be #1

Then John Carter

Robinson Crusoe

Total Recall

Mars Attacks

Good selection Mach7!

I would pick....

The Martian

John Carter

Robinson Crusoe on Mars

Total Recall (The first one...with Arnold!)

Angry Red Planet

And then....Not a movie but a reality series from last year...

"Stars on Mars" It was a fun romp, I loved it! Great Martian habitat and spacesuits!

Lordy me yes! I LOVE Angry Red Planet..

The clever way the filmmakers altered the film to make Mars look like truly alien world was brilliant.

And the creature which is often called the Bat-Rat-Spider-Crab is a classic monster. Shocked

Add to this the fact that the film closes with a message from an advanced Martian civilization which warns us NOT to come back to their planet!

That's a brilliant concept. I love it. Cool

I thought that was a perfect and unexpected ending. Kind of put us in our place, so to say.

Exactly! The Martians have no interest in invading Earth — and they have even less interest in humans coming to Mars! Shocked

Just think how that would infuriate mankind! We'd be just itchin' to prove that we're worth of their trust . . . even though we really aren't! Rolling Eyes

Yeah, all we would manage to do is piss them off and we'd have a real life War of the Worlds on our hands.

Whoa, hold the phone, folks! Here's a news flash.

The haughty aliens carry out their threat when we foolishly send a peace envoy to the Red Planet. But we loose contact with the mission, and we assume the Martians have killed the astronauts and destroyed their ship!

Within hours we detect the approach of a massive fleet from Mars. When it reaches Earth, the Martians quickly neutralize the militarizes of every nation . . . and then they destroy every space program facility on the planet.

At this point the Martians address the world (sort of like in [i[Earth vs the Flying Saucers[/i]) and tell us that if we haven't learned how avoid war and armed international conflicts by the time we've rebuilt our various space programs, they'll conclude that we can't be permitted to exist.

However, to prove that they are more civilized than the dangerous inhabitants of Earth, they send down a shuttle craft which contains the astronauts who went to Mars — alive and well.

Then the Martian fleet departs, and the worlds leaders quickly assemble. They agree that they must to find a way to make peace. With no significant weapons left to threaten each other — as well as the possibility of global annihilation if we even try to rebuild the armies — mankind makes a desperate effort to curb our natural savage tendencies.

The End (. . . or is it?) Dum dum dum dummm!
Shocked
