Sit back, relax, and enjoy the Lux Radio Theater presentation of The Day the Earth Stood Still starring Micheal Rennie, with Jean Peters doing a wonderful job as Helen Benson. It was first aired on January 4, 1954.
The program is one hour long, and this YouTube presentation includes a slide show of pictures from the movie. Paul Frees, the most famous "voice man" from the 1950s, provides the narration.
I listened to it while posting on All Sci-Fi. It was quite a treat.
Enjoy!

I sat back and listened to this last night before bed. Cup of tea in hand, and all the lights off. This was indeed a treat.
Not only was the program excellent, but listening to this reminded me of when me and my father would listen to old radio programs together when I was a youngin'.
Thanks for the program and the memories, Bud! _________________ "You look like a pooped out pinwheel."

You're quite welcome, sir — although I can only take credit for providing the program. You provided the memories, and I envy you for having that unique and wonderful experience with your Dad.
I had a great father, too, and we watched Westerns on TV together, but I'm sure we'd have enjoyed vintage radio programs as well.
I did an oil painting of my father back in 1976.
________
A few years ago I borrowed a cowboy hat from another artist's painting and pasted it onto my father. I wish he'd live to see this version!

If you liked this, listen to the Calfax Theatres' FORBIDEN PLANET! It's available on Youtube and other sources.

Robby sounds more British than Australian to me. The actor playing Morbius is definitely British, while the actress who plays Altaira is doing a half-assed (half-arsed?) attempt at an American accent (though she says "leftenant"!).
Interesting radio adaptation, though. |

I'm delighted that you said that, Scot, because I couldn't find enough Aussie slag to make my joke work — so I snitched some British slag to fill it out.
But of course, the whole idea started with my vision of Robby in a Crocodile Dundee hat, so I was eager to put it all together into a funny posts.
So, tell me, mate? Did I succeed?
