Stargate Universe spun-off from the popular Stargate: SG-1 science fiction television series. Both were created by Brad Wright & Robert C. Cooper. The series premiered on October 2, 2009 and ran until May 9, 2011 for 40 episodes on the SyFy Channel.

Premise: A multinational team of experts find themselves journeying on an alien spaceship created by the Ancients. The Destiny is several light years distant from the Milky Way Galaxy.

The crew try to figure out how to operate the alien vessel so that they can return to Earth while simultaneously exploring and surviving in this unknown area of the universe.

Sidebar: I remember enjoying this show very much. Having the crew attempting to comprehend how to run the alien vessel was intriguing. I liked that the writers did not simply have the crew solve how all the systems of the craft in just a few episodes. It was an ongoing challenge for them as they attempted to master the Destiny.
