Right, Wayne. In the first picture, we see the light headed straight for the sun, and it seems to deliberately detour around it, after which it turns back to its original path.

In the second picture we see that the light -- which would have simply missed the sun -- is pulled in towards it as it passes the gravity well, then it heads straight away in a new direction after the lateral pull of gravity diminishes.
