Ah-ha! I think I have fiddled around with that a little bit, years ago. That "time limit" on recordings was what killed my enthusiasm. Still, I want to hear about how you handle that drawback to this method of downloading shows and movies. Very interesting. Very Happy

Watched the episode last night on MeTV "The Runaway Robot."

Fun episode in spite of the horrible design for the 'bot.

Got me to thinking. Even by 50s standards AOS had a meager budget & was not a network show.

Wonder how much better the series would have looked if it was a network show with a healthy budget?

I know just what you mean. I think the talent was there, but there's only so much you can do when the money is that tight.

It's really a shame, because despite the limitations of the series, it's still being enjoyed by millions on people.

Adventures of Superman appears to have been shot on a budget equal or less than the old serials.

But I had the best time ever watching it!

Here's a wild idea.

Imagine a Superman feature film in the 50s with the TV cast.

Now imagine that it had the budget & talent of Forbidden Planet behind it.

Adventures of Superman still works well today - I must re-watch my dvd box sets. They certainly made a wise investment when they went to filming the episodes in colour after the first two seasons.

Plenty of Daily Planet scenes must have kept the costs down. You don't really need super-villains with CGI special effect powers to keep the audience entertained, you just need Clark, Lois, Jimmy, Perry, and a few scheming crooks who are cruisin' for a bruisin'...

Trivia } On the episode "The Deadly Rock," from 06/02/1956, the guest star was Robert Lowery.

Lowery portrayed Bruce Wayne/Batman in the 1949 serial Batman & Robin.

Looks like Clark & Bruce kinda met.

Trivia. In The Bowery Boys Meet The Monsters, released in 06/06/1954,one of the monsters is a robot.

That same robot with a few modifications would be reused on the Adventures of Superman.

The episode was "The Gentle Monster" from 03/24/'58.

Actually, the first pilot for AofS WAS shot as a feature movie!

SUPERMAN AND THE MOLE MEN was shot as a feature (although low budget!) movie and was released as such. It was cut up and broadcast as the only two parter to conclude the first season.

Here's an idea I'll just toss out for the fun of it.

Anybody interested in a Saturday morning chat with Adventures of Superman? I have the box sets and I'm sure I'm not the only one. Those who don't have them might find them at their local library,= or Netflix.

It could be something we'd do in less than an hour each Saturday morning (two episodes), with a hot cup of coffee for the folks on the West coast. and with Coke and popcorn for the folks on the East coast.

Anyone game for this idea? Very Happy

That's a great picture, for sure. That "robox" could have been the first Transformer... if transforming into some sort of garden waste burner, plus a storage crate or two, would have counted. Optibox Prime...?
