Orphan Black was a Canadian sf television series that ran from March 30, 2013-to-August 12, 2017 for 50 episodes.
It was created by Graeme Manson & John Fawcett and starred the remarkable Tatiana Maslany.
Synopsis } Sarah Manning works the streets as a con artist and in her early life had been adopted.
One night on a train platform Sarah notices a woman standing there and is startled to see that the woman looks identical to Sarah.
The woman then jumps in front of a passing train committing suicide.
Sarah gathers the woman's purse left in tact on the platform and discovers that her twin was a detective.
In time, Sarah uncovers the fact that she is a clone and has a number of 'sisters' from all walks of life.
Sarah discovers that there is a corporation conducting illegal cloning experiments but exactly for what purpose is unknown?
However, her more immediate need is to unite her sister clones together in order to halt the fact that someone is assassinating them one-by-one.
OB was was an entertaining sf mystery show.
Tatiana Maslany was fantastic in her portrayal of all the 'sister' clones as each one had been brought up in differing backgrounds. So each clone had a different personality and Tatiana played it all so astonishingly well that you would almost think it was a different actress as each clone.
The visual effects were also superb in placing Tatiana and her clones all together in a scene smoothly.
OB was a compelling show as we would discover new clones of Sarah and see how different they were from Sarah.
By now the plot device of an evil corporation (or branch of the government) has become a cliche for film and TV shows.
However, with OB you rooted for Sarah and her 'sisters' to unmask who performed these cloning experiments, never revealed that fact and was now hunting them down. |
