Personally I prefer the "living brain" in The Colossus of New York to the "rubber brain" in the aquarium in Donovan's Brain.
The Colossus brain was given a custom-built Plexiglas tank with crystal clear water and the deluxe pedestal option!
Plus the brain is not half submerged — and therefore not drying out! Add to this the fact that it's obviously hardwired for both high-speed internet and HD TV — which makes it much easier to endure not having a body! :

From NBC press release, issued December 12, 1967:
Captain Kirk (William Shatner), Lt. Uhura (Nichelle Nichols) and Ensign Chekov (Walter Koenig) vanish during the transporting process and find themselves prisoners of highly developed masses of brains without bodies, in "Gamesters of Triskelion" on NBC Television Network's Star Trek colorcast Friday, Jan. 5....
Joseph Ruskin and Angelique Pettyjohn guest star....
The three are forced down on a planet of slaves called Thralls, who exist solely for the benefit of the brain masses, called 'Providers.' whose only diversion is to watch and gamble on combat to the death among humans.
Galt (Ruskin), the master Thrall, assigns drill Thralls to train the three officers for combat. Shanna [sic] (Miss Pettyjohn) is assigned to Kirk and falls in love with him...Kirk then challenges the Providers to a daring wager.
Thoughts: Cheesy episode, never much cared for it. The sudden conversion of the Providers from being draconian masters who had their slaves fight to the death, to swell fellas who would now munificently & kindly guide their former slaves into a civilized and productive society smacked of total unbelievability to me.
Kirk wins a bet with the Providers and now they'll completely renounce their evil ways and become good guys. Yeah, right. |
