In view of All Sci-Fi's Saturday Live Chat (<— link) tonight, I just wondered how large Gila monster really got!
I found this on line!
_______________________________
The largest lizards in the United States, Gila monsters, can measure up to about 22 inches (56 centimeters) in total length.
The Gila monster lives primarily in Arizona and Mexico, the extreme southeastern corner of California, the southern tip of Nevada, and the southwestern corners of Utah and New Mexico.

I also found this.

Can a Gila monster kill a human?
It has been accused of many things, such as spitting venom, leaping several feet in the air to attack, stinging with its tongue, and killing people with gusts of poisonous breath.
It may even chew so that the venom goes deeper into the wound. A Gila monster bite is painful to humans, but it rarely causes death.

I wondered if the Gila monsters were an endangers species! Thankfully, they aren't!

How many Gila monsters are left?
The Gila monster is secretive and therefore difficult to accurately count. The total population size is unknown, but the most recent information available indicates that there are probably at least several thousand adult Gila monsters rangewide and possibly 450-800 individuals in Utah.

So . . . since we can enjoy a movie about tiny ants which grow large and threaten mankind, how about a story in which lizards in same area become gigantic and gobble up humans? _________________ ____________
