'Patlabor 2'. Don't let the title throw you and in reality there is very little of the big robot or generic anime stuff here. The movie is really more political in tone. Youtube has the entire movie dubbed in English http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pmvvZiAb7Dg which you can watch. If you want a little taste of what it looks like I would suggest going to youtube, bringing it up and maybe jump to the 31 minute mark.

It's an interesting movie. The movie deals a lot with how Japan sees itself in today's world. On the one hand being an economic power house (the movie was made in the early '90's) yet under it's constitution limited in how much it could contribute to global affairs such as UN peacekeeping operations. The movie, though taking place a handful of years into its then future does firmly root itself in reality somewhat by using historical events from Belenko's defection to Japan in the 70's with his Mig 25 to the rogue Imperial Japanese Army officers who attempted a coup when the Emperor was about to release his radio broadcast surrendering at the close of WW2.

The DVD has a good English dub track that makes watching quite enjoyable. This has been out for 20 years . . . has anyone else seen this?

I suspect that the reason Bongopete made 74 posts on this newest version of All Sci-Fi during it's first two weeks in 2013 is because he didn't get many replies.

So, he decide the board was doomed! Sad

Well, here we are.11 years later! Very Happy

But I certainly wish more of our members would contribute to All Sci-Fi and keep it interesting for the less prolific folks.

Come on guys, even a quick "Nice post!" in reply to the members who add to the board would at least let us know you still alive! Shocked
