Hey, here's an idea for a Star Trek story -- a dangerous like form that imitates tribbles and breaks up into the venomous individuals when they attack!

What, are you nuts?
If you expose these things radiation they'll grow to gigantic size and eat us all for breakfast!
Haven't we learned that lesson the hard way?

But think about how much easier they will be to hit after they grow to gigantic size. Granted, at their current size, gigantic size will make them about the size of a pony. But even if they grow even larger, we can use .50 BMG caliber rifles, and Bazookas, which I don't see as a negative. We can send the PETA people in first to show how gentle they are. Then while they are being eaten, we unleash Heck.
