Well, not exactly "new" if they existed 2.5 million years (or so) ago. "The name H. naledi was given in honour of Rising Star Cave: naledi means star in the Setswana language and Sesotho language" we are told.

But it's always nice to discover new relatives, even if they won't be able to put us on their Christmas cards list...
