Here is a recent (intelligent) article which discusses both: the NASA Dr. Harold White's F-T-L 'Warp Drive', and the Guido Fetta 'Impossible Space Drive' (similar to the EmDrive by Roger Shawyer) - together in a single article.

I would use the (sub-light-speed) inter-planetary, 'EmDrive' for: a submersible, flying saucer, landing/shuttle-craft drive. EmDrive can function under water, because it is a 'sealed' engine. Later, use the NASA 'Warp Drive' for: an interstellar mother-ship... to carry the saucers to Alpha Centauri, and other star systems. The EmDrive would be the easiest to build - and could be used soon to colonize the Moon and Mars, and explore the seas of Jupiter's Europa moon.

In the spirit/context of the:

"Help Vulcan Alberta Build The USS Enterprise"

https://www.indiegogo.com/projects/help-vulcan-alberta-build-the-uss-enterprise...

I would like someone to start a:

"Build the LIS Jupiter 2 Flying Saucer" to donate to. Smile

Jupiter 2 - Liftoff!

It should be intended to use the propellant-less NASA 'Impossible Space Drive' (aka: Roger Shawyer's 'EmDrive'). The (sub-light-speed) EmDrive propulsion should be much, much simpler/cheaper to build, than the Enterprise 'Warp Drive'! And should have a goal of only a few hundred million dollars. If such a ship could be built successfully, it could be used immediately for shuttle-service to the Moon, and colonizing Mars - much preferable to the current 'rocket' methods. I would donate a few tens of dollars to the project... if only to advance space propulsion science. Wink

Thanks for getting things started so well on Science now, add Fiction later, Larry! Boy-oh-boy, did we have some great posts in that section on the old board.

Damn.

Anyway, I'm looking forward to commenting on your article after I've dried my tear-filled eyes and gotten control of my grief at the loss of a certain message board that recently passed away. Crying or Very sad

I just hope that this is not another been-there-postulated-that—oh-forget-it like the Alcubierre drive.
