One line I remember of a review for BTTF, was that the most unbelievable part of the movie was the Deloraen reaching 88 miles per hour.
The Deloraens had some type of corrosion problem with the 'stainless steel' panels. The solution was to anodize that panels either red, or gold (more of a yellow). In the 80s, a man one street over had a red Deloraen, but I have never seen a gold one, except in a photo.

There are various grades of stainless steels, with various degrees of resistance to corrosion. You may have noticed that some stainless steel flatware in restaurants is slightly magnetic. (Sometimes the spoon can be used to rotate the knife.) Increased corrosion resistance usually makes the stainless steel softer. For this reason, the knives usually have a less corrosion resistant blade so they'll remain sharper. The harder steels are also more inclined to be magnetic. _________________ ...or not...
