| That's an interesting idea. Maybe a future Batman film could go retro and be set in the 1940s with Lincoln-inspired car. Come to think of it a Golden Age Bat movie would be pretty neat. I can't see it happening, though. I've been pulling for a retro 1950s Bond film for years, but they seem hopelessly set on contemporizing the character. Both Batman and James Bond were a product of there eras and might best be seen in them. |

That's a good thought, Mr. Jones. The current Bond movies are (mostly) good, but I miss the good old days when Bond was suave and cool and cultured.
Damn, now I'm depressed. I need one of these . . .

I would go for that, and the other retro characters. The problem with characters who employ cool contemporary technology is that the technology is obsolete by the time the movie is released. On the other hand, retro is timeless.

If you talk to a Bartender, they will tell you that stirred is the way to have a Martini. Shaken gets you a watered down drink.
I haven't liked the new Bond. My Brother showed me the first, and I thought that he was having a bad case of gas when he tried to look tough. I haven't seen the second. A coworker lent me the third, and I didn't think it was a Bond movie, but it was an okay action movie. The coworker lent me the last one, and I actually kind of liked it, but I found it strange. It was like they were trying to make an old style Bond film, but didn't know how to do it. It had all the elements of an old style Bond movie, but the elements didn't quite mesh.
But I may buy the dvd, if only for the beginning in Mexico.

I watched Spectre for the first time last night. It started out great (in Mexico City), and it had some good moments. But I know exactly what you mean about trying to insert classic Bond elements without quite knowing how to make them work.
I like the Pierce Brosnan ones the best. The Connery films are just too dated to feel anything for now but fading nostalgia. The Brosnan Bonds are the most enjoyable for me.
